Members of the Rotary Club of Sevenoaks, its Satellite Rotary Club, the Friends of Shelby Newstead, and this year's sponsors welcome you to the 12th Sevenoaks Rotary 10K & Fun Run on 8 April 2018.
We are very proud this year to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes who will join the Runners and present prizes. Lord Sackville will start the 10K at 11am.
Again this year, our aim is to raise as much as possible for organisations that provide services including those for seriously ill children, mental health in West Kent, bereavement support for young people, and ShelterBox in support of those made homeless by natural disaster and conflict. We are pleased to partner with Friends of Shelby Newstead who help children and their families affected by serious illness.
The first 10Km Run in Knole Park was organised by the Rotary Club of Sevenoaks in March 2007. Its success in drawing athletes and social runners from all over Britain has allowed it to become an annual event. In March 2017 over 600 runners ran the ten kilometres, and the event raised £10,000 for Ellenor Children's Hospice Care, The Bridge Trust, Breast Cancer Care, and ShelterBox.
Many runners choose to support other charities with additional sponsorship from friends. We would be pleased to hear about your efforts as this adds value to our fund raising. You can e-mail us at email@example.com to let us know your story. This year, Better Body Group, Crowe Clark Whitehill, Knocker & Foskett, Up & Running Sevenoaks, Ibbett Mosely, and Happen Web Technologies are our main sponsors. The grounds of Knole Park are used by kind permission of Lord Sackville and the National Trust, for which we are very grateful.
As in previous years, the 10k Run will again use computer based Chip timing to record runners' times and calculate their positions.
There is always keen competition from a number of both local and more distant Athletic Clubs for the Team Prizes.
There are special medals for all runners who finish, and prizes for the first three men and women's individuals, and teams, plus the first three in the 1.5K Fun Run. Water and bananas will again be provided.
This year the Fun Run will take place at 10:15 along the main racetrack. Last year we had over 60 entries of all ages.
This event is family friendly and spectators are encouraged to come along to watch and support from the many viewing points. We look forward to welcoming you on the 8th April!
Thank you for your support
